序：For me the Zippo Trick adventurestarted as a result of general boredom. It was a weekend back in 1996 in Norway where I live and nothing funor interesting was happening. As an attempt to keep myself occupied I decidedto start a new website. Not just any site. I wanted to design the ultimateniche site ?a site with extremely limited relevance to people in general. SinceI have always been a fan of Zippo Lighter Tricks this seemed to be the idealtheme for my site. I launched the site that night not knowing that this wouldactually change my future and open up new possibilities and start many newfriendships.
' s, U& K, l$ ~6 Z8 Q$ }7 IToday, the act of doing lightertricks, or Zippo lighter tricks if you like, is a global movement involvingpeople from all corners of the World. As I write this, over 800 unique tricksare documented in detail and are available on Lightertricks.com. Every monthmillions of tricksters visit the site，over 30 million trickvideo clips are downloaded from the site. Who could have guessed? ' S+ y, d9 c+ ]0 Q$ }; Y1 e
I first got in touch with Xuli,or BFK as I first knew him, sometime in 2002. He was in fact my first encounterwith the Chinese trick scene. From our very first contact he struck me as atrickster with great visions and genuine interest for the trick concept. As ourfriendship evolved he introduced me to other Chinese tricksters. All of them representing incredible talent and ballsenough to think outside the box in order to invent new ground breaking tricks.Although the Chinese trick scene is fairly new, it bares great promise for thefuture and will play a vital role in taking the global tricks scene to the nextlevel. Xuli’s book and his enthusiasm and visions for the concept is a hugestep in the right direction and who knows, maybe one of these days Xuli andmine common dream will come through ?a Chinese version of Lightertricks.com!
