重温下当年ＬＴ鼎盛时期，Ｂｏｏｔｙ的一篇玩法心得，当初写火影的时候本打算收录进去

但通过Ｍｏｒｔｅｎ也没有和Ｂｏｏｔｙ联系上，因此无法得到授权，这里非商业引用下吧

不过很可惜，Ｂｏｏｔｙ和歪脖先生，都已经退隐多年了，但江湖上一直有他们的传说吧：）

There are some people who “DO” tricks with lighter while others of us perform them.. “You mean there is a difference?” Yes!!! Now while it may, on its face, seem like only a simple grammatical difference, it is really more stylistic. My girlfriend can “do” plenty of tricks, probably more than the average person on this site, but I don’t think she would say that she “performs” them. This for the average person is not a bad thing, but as a Lightertricks.com trickster you should at least know the difference. Then you can decide whether you “do” lighter tricks or you “perform” them!

In the dictionary performance has a few definitions, but there are three I’d like to focus on for describing trick performance. 1. Something performed; an accomplishment.  2. The act or style of performing a work or role before an audience. 3. A presentation, especially a theatrical one, before an audience. All of these are appropriate definitions of the types of performance that this set of articles covers. Simply put performing a trick is the art of taking it beyond the sheer mechanics of the moves and turning it into something spectacular!

Well you’re still reading. That means either you want to learn about performance and want to improve it, or you are just bored and the porn you are downloading still has 15megs left to go, so you have a little time to spare. This part 1 of “Performing Lighter Tricks” is designed to get you in the proper mindset for performing lighter tricks; you might even call it “PREforming.” This first look at performance is a series of simple questions and hints that can help you better understand a few of the variables that can affect your performance.  Some of you will find this helpful and enlightening, while others may not finish this article as you have a broadband connection and your porn is now a mere 3.5megs away from being complete.

*NOTE: I WILL NOT BE TEACHING ANY TRICKS IN THIS ARTICLE, IF THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GO DOWNLOAD SOME TRICK VIDEOS AND READ THE DESCRIPTIONS.*
The absolute very first thing you need to ask yourself is “why do I perform lighter tricks?” Is it for the self-satisfaction, the accomplishment of something that seemed impossible, or the fulfillment of creating a brand new trick? Maybe you do it to impress your friends and pickup chicks (and yes you can pickup chicks, guys, or whatever you are into if you use them properly *see future article). Or it could be that you are doing it because you seek fame and fortune, which is also a noble cause. It hasn’t worked for me yet, but I’ll let you know when it does! Regardless you need to know “why” before you can figure out “how.”

Now at this point I’m sure there are some of you who are going “yippidy-freaking-doo, but I just ‘do’ them because they are fun,” or something like that. While it is all well and good to “do” tricks because they are fun, but you really need to dig deeper as to why it is fun if you want to perform tricks. The best example I can think of is this: Some musicians will sit in their rooms their whole life playing guitar or whatever and become amazing, and they have no desire to get out in front of people and play. They derive their satisfaction from the act of playing and could careless if anyone is listening or likes it. On the other hand there are some musicians whose primary joy of playing is achieved from “performing” for an audience. Both are artists and perform music, but one performs for himself while the other for the masses. Fortunately this is not a question that should keep you up all night. You probably answered it up top when I initially asked. If not you have now had plenty of time and I’m moving on to the next question.

Where do you plan on “performing” your tricks? See why the first question was important? Without an answer to the first question this one is pretty hard to answer. So for those of you that did skip ahead without answering the first question hit stop, answer the question and then hit play to continue. Most likely your answer will fall into one of these three categories: First is your room. Good for you! You do tricks for yourself, and no one can knock you for that. Second would be at a friend’s house or small party. Meaning you probably have more of a performance-for-people type of attitude. I assume most Tricksters on the site fall into this category. Lastly is a step up from this and that is a club or bar, basically any public place where you don’t personally know your audience.
If you have chosen the later then you maybe in the search for fame, fortune, and women/men (for all you female tricksters out there), and that is great too. The main point is that by knowing your venue you can better prepare your performance for your intended audience.

*Quick side note for all of you performing in public places. MAKE SURE IT IS ALLOWED OR AT LEAST TOLERATED! Don’t do it at school, in a non-smoking club (yes people will complain about the “lighter” smell), or at church. The list could go on forever. The point is just do tricks at places and for people that want to see them. Don’t waste your time on all the rest.*

This, if you haven’t already guessed, brings us to the topic of audience. Who will your audience consist of? Typical you can get a broad idea of who will be in your audience by the location you select. Obviously if your bedroom is in your “stage”, well you either have a rock star complex for thinking there is a stage in your bedroom or you are the audience. When you make up the whole of the “audience” then you really shouldn’t have a problem figuring out what the “audience” likes, but if you do then nothing in this article is going to help you on that one!

The next spectator type is comprised of your friends and family, basically people you know. Usually they will be your best type of audience. By best I mean most eager to watch and learn what Lighter Tricks are about. Now I know some of you are saying, “But my parents don’t approve of me playing with fire.” Well I’m not here to change that or say they should, but that is exactly what we are talking about. If you know your “audience” doesn’t want to see it then don’t perform for them. This is not saying, “Kids play with lighters when your parents are not looking.” In fact, kids DO NOT play with lighters while your parents aren’t looking. It is a general statement that applies to all audiences. Do tricks for those that want to see them, and if you know your audience that is not too hard to figure out. That is the reason why Yoko Ono doesn’t come knocking on my door to perform for me, because she knows I DON”T WANT TO HEAR IT!

The last general type of audience is the stranger or new acquaintances. Again your venue selection plays into this since there are not too many random strangers that will just be popping up in your room. So most likely you will be performing for strangers/new acquaintances in a public setting. This by the way can be the most rewarding venue/audiences as well as the worst. Yes I have been asked to leave/stop doing tricks in more than one bar! On the flip side I have impressed a whole lot of people in a whole lot of bars! So it can be hit or miss, but know that going in and prepare accordingly.

As illustrated above, all of these audience types are different. They have different benefits and require a slightly different performance for each. In your room by yourself you have all the chances in the world to get a trick right, but when the hottest girl in the bar needs a light and you fumble and drop your lighter… well don’t despair the rest of the girls might start to look that good after a few beers! When performing for friends and family 9 times out 10 they will want to learn a trick so show them. In a bar a lot of people will say “how did you do that,” but that doesn’t necessarily .

当我们在用火机表演tricks的时候，一些人只是在用火机去“做”这些动作。“那你的意思是这两者是不同的吗？”“是的！！！表面上，他们好像是在表演，两者只是语言上表达不同，但是表演是带有更多的风格的，更人性化的。我的女朋友可以“做”很多很多这种tricks，在这方面大概比大部分的人都要多。但是，我不认为她有资格说她是在表演tricks。能做这么多tricks对于一个普通人来说算是不错了，但是作为一个Lightertricks.com 的tricks玩家来说，你至少应该知道这些区别。然后你才能决定你是“做”还是可以真的表演tricks.

表演，在字典里面有好几个解释。但是在这里我只想从三点去解释表演tricks中的“表演”。1，每个动作都是一个成就。2，在观众面前表演这些动作时带有的风格是一个任务，你必须具备。3，在观众面前表演时可以陈述这个动作，特别是在做一些与众不同的动作的时候。这三点就可以概括这整篇文章了。真正的表演tricks就是把动作做得超越了力学机械学原理并把这些动作变成吸引人的一种艺术！
　　

噢，你还在看这篇文章。这就意味着你想继续学习并提升这种真正的表演，这篇文章的第一部分是想让你对表演tricks有正确的态度，可以叫做“热身”。第一次看一个动作要带着一连串的问题并试着找出他的思路和线索，这可以帮你更好地理解这些动作的变化，帮你做好你的表演。你们一些人会发现这对于自己非常有用并给自己带来一些启发吧。

你首先必须问问你自己：我玩tricks是为了什么？是为了自我满足吗？为了完成一些不可能的事情？还是要创造一些的tricks或许你是为了能在朋友面前秀一秀出出风头和——泡妞。或者因为玩tricks给你带来了名利，帮你达到了这些目的，这也是一个很好的情况。

这些东西对我还不适用，但我会让你知道什么时候才会适用！你可以在领会到为什么这样做之前知道怎么样做。
　　

看到这里我想你们一些人会说哪有这么复杂，我去玩tricks是因为我觉得他们很有趣之类的话。你觉得有趣而去参与是很好，但是如果你是要真正的去表演tricks你还需要深入去研究为什么他们这么有趣。我想到的最好的例子是：一些音乐家可以用一生的时间坐在房间里弹吉或什么别的乐器，最后成名。他们并没有想过在人们面前表演。他们完全陶醉在他们的自我世界里而忽略会有其他人聆听和喜欢他们的演奏。另一方面有一些音乐家的主要动力是能在观众面前表演。这两种都是艺术家，都是演奏音乐，但一种是为了自己演奏另一种是为了群众。幸好这个问题不会困饶你整个晚上，你大概在我刚问你的时候你就马上把他答出来了。如果你现在还有时间我将继续下一个问题。
　　

你打算在哪表演？发现第一个问题的重要性了吧？哈哈，没有回答第一个问题很难回答第二个问题吧？那些没有回答第一个问题的人赶快去把第一个问题答了然后继续读下去吧。大多数人的回答都是这三种情况：第一种，在自己的房间。非常好！你是为你自己而玩tricks，没有人可以妨碍你。第二种，在朋友的家里或一些小聚会上。那你就应该是比较喜欢炫耀的人，我估计大多数玩tricks的人都是这种情况吧。最后一种就是在第二种情况上发展到在一些酒吧和俱乐部里，在几乎你不认识的人面前表演。
　　

如果你选择的是后两种你应该是在追求名利和异性，这也很好。最主要一点是要知道那些已婚的观众哦，要不然就有麻烦了。注释：你要确定那个你表演的地方是允许你玩tricks的！不要在学校里，不要在无烟的俱乐部里（那里的人连火机的气味也受不了），更不要在教堂。这些地方是永远不能玩tricks的！总的来说，你只能在合适的地方在想看这表演的人面前表演，其他的情况就不要了。
　　

好了，如果你还没有理解，那我们把话题转到观众那里。你的观众都是些什么人？你可以从观众那里决定你表演的场所。就好像如果你在你自己的房间里表演，那你可以想象自己就是那名表演者或者是观众。你了解了这些观众，那你就会知道他们喜欢什么了。
　　

一种观众是你认识的人，例如你的朋友和家人。要是他们都想知道这是怎么一回事，而且好想学学，那他们就是你最好的观众了。你可能会说“但是我的父母不太喜欢我玩火”。我也不会尝试改变他们的想法，如果他们真的不想看那你就千万不要表演给他们看。那当然也不是说“爸爸妈妈不在小孩子就可以玩打火机”。实际上小孩子确实是不能这么做的。这例子也适合任何的观众。只表演tricks给那些想看的人。如果那些观众能看懂你tricks，例如是行家，那你也不太需要给他们表演了。这就和Yoko One （大野洋子）为什么不会来我家要我看她表演的道理一样，因为她知道我不需要看！
　　

另外一种观众就是陌生人和一些刚认识的朋友。当你遇到太多的陌生人你最好重新选择你表演的地方，太多的陌生人会挤暴你的房间的。如果是这种观众，你最好选择一个公共场所，这是最好的地方了。是的，我不只一次在酒吧里玩tricks被赶走，但我也在很多很多酒吧给很多人留下了深刻的印象！有得有失。但你也要准备好随时能够表演哦。
　　

综上所述，各种观众有各种特点，萝卜青菜各有所爱，对于不同的观众需要用到不同的tricks，也有不同的方法。在你自己的房间里你可以用任何方法打着你的火机，但在酒吧里你要给一个热情如火的女孩子点火，你东找找西找找找出你的火机还要在点火的时候小心不要把火机丢到了地板。。。。。。哎，无论怎么样也不要让那个在你喝了几杯以后觉得很漂亮的女孩子觉得失望啊！在家里，你的朋友和家人看了你的表演几次以后，可能会想去学，那你就教教他们吧。如果你在酒吧里也许很多人会说“哦，你是怎么弄的？”但实际上他们不是真的要你去教他们。你要学会看懂你的观众。

这三个问题都是有不同的目的的。你玩tricks的目的（最重要的），你的观众，表演的地点。这些问题都会使你玩tricks更加专业。无论你的目的是什么，想一想这些问题吧，你的tricks会更加精彩。对于那些只是给自己表演的玩家，和那些给朋友和家人表演的玩家，这都是会有帮助的。希望这能在你展现你的表演的时候给你一点提示吧。而最后对于那些希望在公众场所表演的玩家，这仅仅是你进入世界性表演的一块起步的垫脚石（对于这，我需要一本书才能充分的做出诠释）。

最后，我没有好好地准备。在这美好的世界里，你不知道将会有什么事情会发生或改变，但你可以先准备好。一场好的演是先了解清楚观众和表演场地。滑板选手的每一个动作都是事先预计好的，魔术师也会先把助手放到观众席里再表演。这只是一些把这两个问题结合在一起的例子。　　好了！够长了！我希望这篇文章对于大家有用。这是我的第一篇文章。我想很多人在我写这文章前就已经想到了我在这里提到的问题了吧。我的下一篇文章我准备想探讨一下玩tricks的能力。
